Hormone Replacement: NOW OFFERED AT ALTA

As we age, our bodies undergo numerous changes. One significant shift occurs in our hormone levels. For both men and women, this natural decline can lead to a variety of symptoms that impact quality of life. This is where hormone replacement therapy (HRT) comes into play. I experienced this myself, palpitations, brain fog, fatigue, anxiety, the list can go on. I just didn’t feel like myself. When googling my symptoms I discovered that I wasn’t alone. Why had no one talked to me about peri-menopause? Well, I found it just isn’t taught in medical school. In fact during my own graduate studies, I received less than an hour on menopause education.  Luckily, in the US, there are things we can do to reclaim our bodies.

Why Consider Hormone Replacement?

  1. Symptom Relief: Declining hormones can cause hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings, joint/ muscle pain, insomnia, brain fog and decreased libido. HRT can alleviate these symptoms, helping you feel more like yourself.
  2. Bone Health: Hormones play a crucial role in maintaining bone density. Replacement can decrease the risk of osteopenia and osteoporosis thereby reducing fracture risk.
  3. Cardiovascular Health: Some studies suggest that hormone therapy, when started early in menopause, may reduce the risk of heart disease.
  4. Cognitive Function: Hormones influence brain function. Some research indicates that HRT might help maintain cognitive abilities and potentially reduce the risk of dementia.
  5. Muscle Mass and Strength: Hormones like testosterone are vital for maintaining muscle mass. Replacement can help preserve strength and mobility as you age.
  6. Skin Health: Hormones affect skin elasticity and hydration. Replacement may help maintain a more youthful appearance.
  7. Energy and Vitality: Many people report increased energy levels and a greater sense of well-being with hormone replacement.

It’s important to note that hormone replacement isn’t for everyone. The decision should be made in consultation with a healthcare provider, weighing individual risks and benefits.

Remember, while hormone replacement can offer significant benefits, it’s just one piece of the healthy aging puzzle. A balanced diet, regular exercise, stress management, and routine check-ups all play crucial roles in maintaining health and vitality as we age.

Always consult with a qualified healthcare professional to determine if hormone replacement is right for you. They can provide personalized advice based on your unique health profile and needs. And if you live in Washington and can’t find a HRT provider near you, ALTA can help.

Until next time!
